PORTLAND KINDERSCHULE OFFERS A COMPLETE GERMAN LANGUAGE IMMERSION PRESCHOOL EXPERIENCE

We welcome children who are 3 – 5 years of age and potty trained. In certain circumstances, children younger than 3 may be accepted with approval of our school Board. We operate our regular German language immersion preschool program from September through June. School hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 am – 1 pm. In order to keep up with the language skills of other children in the classroom, we require all students to register for a minimum of three days of preschool per week. Holidays
Portland Kinderschule will be closed on holidays observed by Portland Public Schools. Portland Kinderschule’s German language immersion preschool regularly holds special events honoring German traditions and holidays. We invite all of our community members, including Portland Kinderschule graduates and their families, to celebrate St. Martin’s Laternenumzug, Nikolausfeier, and Faschingsfeier. In addition to our yearly celebrations, Portland Kinderschule schedules several field trips which are open to all currently enrolled students and siblings.

• 12:00 – 12:30 Lesson based on monthly theme, Story time, songs
• 12:30 – 12:45 Wash hands, lunch
• 12:45 – 1:00 Read books, dismissal
[/qk_panel][qk_panel title=”Application” el_id=”application”]Interested families must attend an individual tour of Portland Kinderschule prior to enrolling their child. One-hour tours are currently offered on Mondays and Fridays; please contact us to schedule. Families are encouraged to wait until their child is 2.5 years old before visiting.
Membership shall be available without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, language ability, or national origin. Children must turn 3 by September 1 to enroll at the beginning of the school year. If your child will not be 3 by September 1, a teacher assessment is required and special determination made by the Board. Enrollment is open throughout the school year, provided spaces are available.
Fall enrollment opens for new incoming families on March 1. A total of 12 spaces are available each day of the week; spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Children are required to attend a minimum number of 3 days. Each application must include a one-time enrollment fee to secure your child’s space for the year. A sibling discount is offered for each additional sibling enrolled.

- 3 days/week = $350/month ($32/day)
- 4 days/week = $420/month ($29/day)
- 5 days/week = $495/month ($27.50/day)
10% Sibling Discount applies to additional family members attending PKS.
Non-refundable Enrollment Fee for each child:
$130 for new students, $110 returning student.
